SpaceX calls off rocket launch at last minute
CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla. – It’s another launch delay for SpaceX.
The rocket maker was all set to launch a commercial broadcasting satellite Thursday night from Cape Canaveral, Florida. But with just one minute, 40 seconds remaining in the countdown, flight controllers called for an “abort.” The decision came as liquid oxygen was flowing into the unmanned Falcon 9 rocket.
There was no immediate word on when SpaceX might try again. Wednesday’s attempt was also a no-go.
SpaceX is still trying to recover from a launch accident last summer. Once liftoff occurs, the company will try to land the discarded first-stage booster on a barge offshore.
SpaceX scored a rocket landing at Cape Canaveral Air Force Station in December, but has yet to nail a trickier barge landing.
