EDMONTON – Manitoba’s Jeff Stoughton advances to the final of the Canadian men’s curling championship with a 7-6 win over Ontario’s Glenn Howard.
Manitoba scored three in the 10th end for the win.
Stoughton has won the title three times during his career, most recently in 2011.
Ontario, the defending champion, has to win Sunday morning’s semifinal to gain a rematch with Howard.
Newfoundland and Labrador’s Brad Gushue and Northern Ontario’s Brad Jacobs were to meet in another playoff game with the winner facing Stoughton.
Ontario finished first in the prelimimary round of the Tim Hortons Brier with a 10-1 record. Manitoba was second at 8-3.
