Toronto’s Kyle Lowry resting against Pistons

AUBURN HILLS, Mich. – Toronto star Kyle Lowry is sitting out Sunday night’s game against the Detroit Pistons in what coach Dwane Casey says is an attempt to get the high-scoring guard some rest.

Lowry had played all 57 games this season for the Raptors, and he scored 43 points Friday in a win over Cleveland.

The Raptors entered Sunday with a 5 1/2-game lead over Boston in the Atlantic Division, and they’ll need to keep their players from getting worn down if they’re going to make a lengthy run in the post-season.

Lowry is averaging a career-high 21.4 points per game in 2015-16 — and a career-high 37 minutes.
