Luxury brand Burberry moves menswear catwalk shows to London after years in Milan

LONDON – Luxury fashion house Burberry says it is moving its menswear catwalk shows to London after showing them in Milan for more than a decade.

The British brand, best known for its classic trench coats, already shows its biannual womenswear shows in London. The displays have been the highlight of the London Fashion Week schedule since they were first staged in the capital in 2009.

Burberry said menswear was its fastest growing sector in the first half of the 2012/13 financial year.

Other luxury design houses including Alexander McQueen and Tom Ford have also recently been moving their catwalk shows to London from Milan.

The brand’s chief creative director Christopher Bailey said Wednesday Britain’s menswear heritage combines with exciting contemporary talent to give London an edge.
