Hearings planned on Blue Water Bridge currency parity policy
PORT HURON, Mich. – The Michigan Department of Transportation is hosting three public hearings to discuss a proposed currency parity policy for the Blue Water Bridge.
The policy would adjust the toll rate for customers travelling eastbound from the U.S. side into Canada when paying with Canadian currency.
If approved, the policy would go into place in April, with reviews of the exchange rate taking place on a regular basis.
Hearings are Wednesday in Lansing and Thursday in Port Huron. There’s also one Thursday in Point Edward, Ont.
Currency parity policies are in place at other border crossings in Michigan with Canada, including the Ambassador Bridge in Detroit and the International Bridge in Sault Ste. Marie, Ont.
