Penticton RCMP continue investigation into vehicle fire

PENTICTON – Penticton RCMP continue to investigate a suspicious vehicle fire that took place last week.

A 2012 Honda Ridgeline was discovered burning in the driveway of a residence in the 100 block of Walden Crescent around 11:15 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 31.

A neighbouring resident noticed the blaze and called police.

The fire also damaged the exterior siding of a nearby garage, RCMP Cpl. Don Wrigglesworth says.

The owner, who was in the residence and sleeping at the time, was awakened by the neighbour.

Police say the vehicle’s owner has no idea why he would be targeted for arson, if that was the cause.

Neighbours noticed a pickup truck parked in front of the residence for some time, thinking it unusual. The pickup drove away suddenly, almost colliding with another vehicle as it took off down the street.

If anyone has any details about this pickup they are asked to call Penticton RCMP Constable Phil Moses at: 250-492-4300, or Crime Stoppers at: 1-800-222-8477.
