
Canadian skip Rachel Homan defeats Italy at women’s world curling championship
RIGA, Latvia – Canada’s Rachel Homan hit a draw to the eight-foot ring with her final throw for a 7-6 victory over Italy today at the world women’s curling championship.
The Ottawa skip avoided falling back to the .500 mark with the win at the Volvo Sports Center.
Homan will take a 4-2 record into the evening draw against powerhouse Sweden.
The top four rinks in the 12-team field will make the playoffs.
Round-robin play continues through Thursday night and the medal games are scheduled for Sunday.
This is Homan’s first appearance at the world women’s championship.
