VERNON – Vernon RCMP and the B.C. Coroners service are having a tough time identifying a badly decomposed body found in Polson Park Aug. 13.

RCMP spokesperson Gord Molendyk said today the body might have been baking in the hot summer sun for as much as "a couple of weeks."

"It was in the treed area where people don't walk very often," he says. "It doesn't take long for a body to be totally deteriorated, especially in hot weather."

Usually in cases like this, identity can be proven by dental records. Trouble is, this body had no teeth. That leaves them with just clothing and anecdotal information.

Molendyk couldn't confirm if the man was homeless.
