Local scout groups compete in annual racing event
PENTICTON – Local scouts participated in a “racy" event this past weekend in Penticton.
Assistant Scout Leader Don Wrigglesworth says more than 165 scouts from Penticton, Summerland and Oliver took part in their annual vehicle races at the Concordia Lutheran Church and school on Saturday, Feb. 4.
Three hundred spectators watched as the scouts raced their own hand made, wooden vehicles down a ramp with the races timed to a thousandth of a second.
The beaver buggies, cub cars and scout trucks were raced in categories that included best design, most realistic, fastest time, and most unusual and best paint job.
