Sushi and sake festival planned to honour Kelowna’s sister city

KELOWNA – A celebration of all things Japanese is in the works for later in the spring that promises to answer any questions you may have about Kelowna's sister city, Kasugai.

Mayor Colin Basran is scheduled to speak at the first ever Kelowna Sushi and Sake Festival at the Laurel Packinghouse at the end of May. Guests of the festival will be treated to a Japanese folk dance by the Nishikawa-ryu school, Yamabiko Taiko Drumming, a traditional fashion show, Calligraphy and a video greeting from Kasugai mayor Ito.

A Facebook event page says more than 10 local restaurants will also serve their best sushi paired with Japanese sake and other spirits.

The event runs from 1 p.m. until 4 p.m. on Sunday, May 28. Tickets are $30, which includes 10 sushi or sake tokens.
