TORONTO – Canadian comic Mike Myers is paying tribute to his homeland with his first book.
Doubleday Canada says the project will be “a funny, thoughtful and affectionate analysis of his home and native land.”
It’s described as “part memoir, part history, and complete entertainment.”
The book will be illustrated throughout, and include images from Myers’s personal archive.
Doubleday says the book is slated for publication in late fall.
The “Austin Powers” star was born and raised in Toronto and has often snuck in sly references to the Great White North in his films and comedy bits.
“I’m an actor, producer and writer, but no description of me is complete without saying I’m a Canadian,” Myers said Tuesday in a release.
“In 1967, Canada turned 100. Canadians all across the country made centennial projects. This book is my centennial project. I’m handing it in a little late … sorry.”
Myers gained fame in the late ’80s as a regular on “Saturday Night Live,” which launched a film career that includes “Wayne’s World,” “Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery” and “Shrek.”
