Penticton RCMP investigate stolen vehicles and fuel

PENTICTON – Penticton RCMP are investigating two vehicle thefts that occurred last week in the city.

RCMP Cpl. Don Wrigglesworth says police were notified of a stolen vehicle on Wednesday, Feb. 1, around 9:30 p.m.

A brown, 2002 Malibu, B.C. plate number 127 BKE was taken from the parking lot of the West Kingdom Hall, of the Jehovah’s Witness on Roy Avenue sometime between 7:20 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. The vehicle was locked at the time and video surveillance is being reviewed.

On Feb. 5 a 1998 Jeep Grand Cherokee, license plate number CV265X was stolen sometime overnight from a residence in the 2400 block of Naramata Road. Keys and a wallet were in the vehicle. The theft may have occurred around 2 a.m., when a neighbour noticed motion sensor lights come on.

A Ford Ranger pickup with its ignition punched was stolen from Penticton but was located across the street. Police had the vehicle towed for examination.

On Feb. 3, a fuel card was stolen from a mixer truck parked at OK Ready Mix. Wrigglesworth says the stolen card was used to purchase close to $5,000 in fuel. Police have suspects in mind and are investigating.

I have been looking for news in the South Okanagan - SImilkameen for 20 years, having turned a part time lifelong interest into a full time profession. After five years publishing a local newsletter, several years working as a correspondent / stringer for several local newspapers and seven years as editor of a Similkameen weekly newspaper, I joined iNFOnews.ca in 2014.
