Greyback Construction Ltd. got the bid to improve Penticton's Lakeshore Drive in a special Thursday council meeting.
The Penticton-based contractor submitted the successful bid with the lowest price for conducting the work.
The Waterfront Oversight Committee recommended the contract be awarded for $1.8 million.
Mayor Dan Ashton is happy.
"This is an exciting step, when the plans for the Okanagan Lake waterfront begin to take shape," Ashton said.
Construction starts the week of April 8 and parking, sidewalk and beach access will
be impacted. The city asks the public to watch out for signs and barriers along Lakeshore Drive.
The public are invited to a construction meeting on Tuesday at 5 pm at the Penticton Lakeside Resort.
Anyone interested in how the work will be conducted, and those who live or operate businesses along Lakeshore Drive, are welcome to come hear an overview of the project plan, learn about timelines and ask questions.
