GMs hold one-day meeting in Toronto, NHLPA says it will speak to players on visors

TORONTO – NHL GMs spent the day talking about everything from embellishment and goalie equipment to trying to maintain the integrity of faceoffs.

Mathieu Schneider of the National Hockey League Players’ Association was part of a larger group discussion with the GMs at the NHL offices in Toronto.

On the issue of visors, Schneider said the union will be talking to players later this year about possibly grandfathering them in.

He said some 72-73 per cent of players currently wear the shields.

Schneider said more GMs are in favour of hybrid icing, but there’s still a split of opinions.
