Federal government announces funding for recreation projects for Kamloops and Skeetchestn Indian Band

KAMLOOPS – More than a half-million dollars in federal project funding was announced today for Kamloops and the Skeetchestn Indian Band.

The federal government will be putting $500,000 towards upgrades to the indoor track at the Tournament Capital Centre near Thompson Rivers University, a $1.5 million project, according to a press release. The track upgrades will include new track, bleachers and lockers.

Another $55,000 is going to the Skeetchestn Indian Band for a new playground at the band’s community park.

Both projects are being funded by the Canada 150 Community Infrastructure Program.
