MIRAMICHI, N.B. – Police in eastern New Brunswick are investigating a bizarre fatal collision involving a moose that was struck by two vehicles.
RCMP say the moose was first hit by a vehicle travelling southbound early Wednesday on Chaplin Island Road in Wayerton, about 20 kilometres west of Miramichi.
The Mounties say the animal was thrown into the northbound lane, where it hit another vehicle, causing a rollover. A 57-year old man was declared dead at the scene around 6 a.m.
The driver of the first vehicle was not injured.
On Sunday, police in western Newfoundland confirmed that a crash involving a car and a moose had claimed the life of a teenage girl and injured three others.
