NEW YORK, N.Y. – The NHL has closed its investigation into forward Patrick Kane, saying a sexual assault allegation made against the star Chicago Blackhawks forward last year was unfounded.
The league said in a release Wednesday that the final stage of the investigation included an in-person meeting between Kane and Commissioner Gary Bettman in New York on Monday.
Kane was investigated by police last year following an alleged rape at his home near Buffalo, N.Y., but prosecutors in November declined to file charges because of a lack of credible evidence.
