CFL committee approves proposal allowing coaches to review missed field goals
TORONTO – CFL head coaches are a step closer to being able to challenge missed field goals and converts.
The league’s rules committee has approved a proposal allowing coaches to request video review of a missed field goal or extra point.
The recommendation is now subject to approval by the CFL’s board of governors later this spring.
The committee is also recommending CFL head coaches be given more flexibility in how they use timeouts.
It approved a proposal allowing coaches to used both of their timeouts at any point during regulation time so long as they don’t use more than one after the three-minute warning.
The committee consists of CFL head coaches, GMs, presidents, league officials as well as a representative from the CFL Players’ Association.
