HIT AND RUN: Over $3,000 raised for Jennifer Gatey memorial benches
KAMLOOPS – Two memorial benches for Jennifer Gatey, the teen killed in a hit and run incident in early November, are closer to becoming a reality thanks to community support.
More than $3,300 has been raised so far in an effort to create two public benches, one at the bus stop she was walking to when she was hit and another near the school she was attending.
Gatey’s father Cameron regularly walked to the bus stop after his daughter’s death, where a memorial to her was set up.
In a post on the page, McMillan says she’s a parent as well and was touched by what happened. Also on the page is a thank you from Cameron.
A police investigation into the hit and run is ongoing.
