DECATUR, Ga. – The estranged boyfriend of a Postal worker in Georgia who was gunned down earlier this week has been arrested in her death.
DeKalb County Police say 22-year-old Tyrika Terrell, of Covington, was shot several times in the head outside her job in Decatur on Monday night.
Authorities say her estranged boyfriend, 22-year-old Quantez Tyre, was arrested Friday on felony murder charges following a nearly two-hour standoff at the home of one of his relatives in Decatur. Police say Tyre positioned himself with a weapon in an upstairs room, set a fire inside the home and shots were fired. When he came out of the house, S.W.A.T. deputies took him into custody. Police say he had a self-inflicted gunshot wound, but didn’t say where. After treatment, authorities say he’ll be transported to the DeKalb County Jail.
The pair has a 6-month-old daughter.
