A woman was struck and injured while using a crosswalk yesterday in Vernon.
Police arrived at the intersection of 32 St. and 39 Ave. in Vernon around 3:30 p.m. to find a middle-aged woman suffering from a broken leg and broken shoulder as a result of the accident. She was transported to Vernon Jubilee Hospital.
The 17-year-old driver was traveling west on 39 Ave and hit the woman when he turned left onto 32 St. He told officers he was unable to see the victim in the crosswalk because the sun was in his eyes. The driver was issued a ticket for failing to yield to a pedestrian.
