VERNON – A man driving with nothing but a small peephole on his windshield was caught speeding earlier this week by police in Vernon.

A photo supplied by the Vernon RCMP shows the man’s vehicle covered in snow, with only a small, tray-sized area cleared off on the windshield.

According to police, the man was headed towards Vernon on Highway 97 near the scales on Feb. 12 when a Southeast District Traffic Services officer noticed the hazard.

“Not only was the man attempting to drive a snow covered vehicle, he was going 30 km over the posted speed limit,” Const. Jocelyn Noseworthy says in a news release.

The man was slapped with a ticket for driving without due care. That ticket is $368 and six points on your license.

“(He) cleaned his vehicle off before heading on his way,” Noseworthy says.

The RCMP is reminding drivers to clean the snow off their cars before hitting the road.
