Canadian tennis player Wozniak to miss three months due to shoulder injury

MONTREAL – Canadian tennis player Aleksandra Wozniak will be out of action for three months due to a right shoulder injury.

The 25-year-old right-hander consulted with a shoulder specialist after pain returned last week at the Sony Open.

Wozniak dropped a 7-5, 6-2 decision to Kristina Mladecnovic of France in first-round play in Miami.

It was her first WTA tournament appearance since being diagnosed with a shoulder joint sprain last September.

The 25-year-old from Blainville, Que., holds the No. 58 position in the world rankings.
