Sometimes, there are no hints as to when your car's engine will explode.
That was the case yesterday when a Vernon cleaning lady's vehicle erupted in flames at 472 Fortress Cres.
Jack Blair, Deputy Chief Operations, told InfoTel News the fire, which began in the engine compartment, appears accidental in nature. He says the driver parked at the house she was going to clean that day, went inside, and was called out a short time later by a neighbour who said her car was on fire.
"She said the car had been running well when she arrived," Blair says. No warning lights had come on to tip the driver off.
Fire crews contained the fire before it spread, but the vehicle suffered extensive damage to the front hood area.
Blair reminds drivers to check their vehicles regularly, and to take them into the mechanic if anything seems out of the ordinary.
