B.C. teen told killer she wasn’t afraid before he pulled trigger: court hears
VANCOUVER – A Vancouver teenager looked into the eyes of her ex-boyfriend and told him she wasn’t scared and that he should go ahead and shoot her just moments before he delivered the fatal blast.
The details of Poonam Randhawa’s murder are being heard for the first time at the B.C. Supreme Court sentencing hearing of Ninderjit Singh.
He pleaded guilty to second-degree murder earlier this month, 14 years after the teenager was murdered and her body was dumped in a Vancouver alleyway.
The court heard that Singh killed Randhawa because he believed she was cheating on him and he said he wanted the truth or he would shoot her.
One of Singh’s friends, who was driving the vehicle the three were in, witnessed the murder and later told police that he watched Singh dump the body.
The Crown has asked the court to sentence Singh to life in prison with parole eligibility set for 17 to 20 years.
