Elementary school issues safety bulletin after stranger offers student ride home

ARMSTRONG – Armstrong Elementary has issued a safety bulletin to the community after a student was approached and offered a ride by a stranger while walking home from school.

In a post to the Armstrong Elementary Facebook page, school principal Denise Brown says the unknown man, who appeared to be in his mid-forties, approached a student last Thursday, Feb. 16 at at 3 p.m.

The student was walking home on Okanagan Street when the stranger offered him a ride. Once the student reported the incident to his parent, she contacted the police and the school. The man was driving a small black SUV, or possibly a small pickup truck, Brown says in the post. 

Brown says an official letter regarding the incident will go home with students on Monday.
