New signs to modernize Prospera Place

KELOWNA – Prospera Place will undergo a facelift as it replaces its current outdoor signage with six digital signs. 

The development permit went before city council yesterday, Feb. 20, and was unanimously approved.

"The signs will definitely modernize the building," Coun. Luke Stack said.

A few members of council were concerned the signs would take away from the esthetics of the surrounding area. 

"If the lights are too bright, they can be very distracting," Coun. Gail Given said. "It can be a hazard for safety reasons, as well as they can deter from the beautiful landscape of the area." 

The signs will be limited to 7,500 lux during the daylight hours, and will be adjusted to a more ambient light during the night. Additionally, there will be no full animation allowed on the signs. However, the time allowed for each visual will not exceed .25 seconds. There will also be no third party advertising permitted.
