NHL suspends Flyers forward VandeVelde two games for elbowing incident

NEW YORK, N.Y. – The NHL suspended Philadelphia Flyers forward Chris VandeVelde two games Friday for elbowing an opponent.

VandeVelde elbowed Chicago Blackhawks forward Jonathan Toews in the first period of a game Wednesday night.

VandeVelde received an elbowing minor penalty on the play.

He will forfeit $7,661.30 in salary as a result of the suspension.
