New Democrat’s April Fool’s Day spoof ads celebrate Adrian Dix, ‘evil genius’
VANCOUVER – The British Columbia election campaign officially gets underway this month and the provincial New Democrats are coming out of the gate … laughing.
The NDP are marking April Fool’s Day with the release of an attack ad of sorts with tongues planted firmly in cheeks.
Poking fun at Liberal attack ads, the New Democrat spoof admits Dix is the architect of all that went wrong in the 1990s — from the Spice Girls and the destruction of the Brazilian rain forest to plaid shirts and Jennifer Aniston’s hair.
They say the “evil genius” is also to blame for Wayne Gretzky’s retirement, the federal GST and the Vancouver Canuck’s Stanley Cup loss that marred the “decade of destruction.”
The satirical ads are part of a social media campaign, and aren’t airing on television or radio.
The campaign for the May 14 provincial election will begin in a couple of weeks.
