CFIA says some Heartland Gourmet products may have undeclared milk

OTTAWA – The Canadian Food Inspection Agency is warning people with allergies to milk not to consume certain Heartland Gourmet gluten free, dairy free baking mixes.

The agency says the affected products may contain milk which is not declared on the label.

Heartland Gourmet Gluten Free Chocolate Chip Cookie Mix, Gluten Free Double Chocolate Cookie Mix and Gluten Free Pizza Crust Mix are covered by the warning.

There have been no reported illnesses associated with the consumption of these products.

The affected products are being recalled by Heartland Gourmet in the United States and the CFIA is working with the Canadian importers to have the products removed from the marketplace.

The specific lots are:

Heartland Gourmet Gluten Free Chocolate Chip Cookie Mix in 16-ounce packages with lot number 0023065 and best buy date of 12/2014 and lot number 0023007 and best buy date of 10/2014; UPC 7376967020171

Heartland Gourmet Gluten Free Double Chocolate Cookie Mix in 16 ounce packages with lot number 0012289 and best buy date of 10/2014, lot number 0022317 and best buy date of 10/2014 and lot 0012341 with a best buy date of 01/2014; UPC 737697015306

Heartland Gourmet Gluten Free Pizza Crust Mix in 15.4-ounce packages with lot number 0073007 and best buy date of 09/2014; UPC 737697020249.
