B.C. woman is killed in chain-reaction crash where truck dumps its load

AGASSIZ, B.C. – The Mounties were investigating a fatal three-vehicle accident on Highway 7 in Agassiz, B.C., that happened early Thursday morning.

RCMP say a car driven by a 31-year-old man from Agassiz collided with a commercial truck carrying a load of particle board, causing the truck to tip.

The load of wood landed on a passing car, killing the 20-year-old female driver and seriously injuring a 25-year-old male passenger, both of Agassiz.

The driver of the commercial truck, a 33-year-old man from Edmonton, was treated for injuries at the local hospital and released.

Police say the driver of the car that collided with the truck appeared to be uninjured.

The RCMP’s collision and reconstruction section, the coroners’ service and commercial motor vehicle inspectors are all investigating the crash.
