TORONTO – Josh Manson’s throat-slashing gesture on Toronto’s Nazem Kadri has proved costly.
The Anaheim Ducks defenceman was fined US$2,486.56 on Friday — the maximum allowable under the NHL’s Collective Bargaining Agreement — for his gesture aimed at Kadri.
The incident happened at 17:17 of the third period in the Maple Leafs’ 6-5 victory at the Air Canada Centre on Thrusday night.
Kadri was penalized for delivering a hit from behind on Manson, and Manson made the gesture while Kadri was being escorted to the penalty box. Manson was given a game misconduct for his action.
Last month, Kadri himself was fined the maximum amount for giving a throat-slash gesture toward Calgary Flames defenceman Mark Giordano.
