Toronto FC loans four players to USL team ahead of TFC 2 season opener
TORONTO – Toronto FC has loaned goalkeeper Alex Bono, defender Mark Bloom, midfielder Chris Mannella and forward Mo Babouli to Toronto FC II of the United Soccer League.
The players can be recalled by the MLS team at any time. Bloom and Babouli were likely loaned just to get some playing time with the MLS squad on a bye week.
Babouli has just signed an MLS contract with TFC after time with the academy and TFC 2. Bloom missed all of the 2015 MLS season through injury.
Mannella, 21, was also loaned to Toronto FC II last season when he captained the USL team. Bono, 21, played 12 games for Toronto FC II last season and is currently behind No. 1 Clint Irwin and Quillan Roberts in the TFC `keeper pecking order.
Toronto FC II kicks off its season Saturday at the New York Red Bulls II.
