VERNON – RCMP have temporarily closed the southbound lanes of Highway 97 near the Okanagan College campus in Vernon.

The snowfall has created “extremely slippery and dangerous conditions” in the southbound lanes of Highway 97 from College Way to Bailey Road, Const. Jocelyn Noseworthy says in a media release.

Noseworthy says road conditions throughout the North Okanagan are “slippery and treacherous in places.”

RCMP are reminding drivers it’s still winter and to drive according to weather conditions.
