KAMLOOPS – A sexual assault charge against a Russian international student in Kamloops expected to go to trial today has been stayed by the Crown.
Anton Marin was charged with one count of sexual assault.
The single charge was stayed on Aug. 8. Neither Crown prosecutor in charge of the file, Sarah Firestone, nor defence lawyer John Hogg returned calls.
Media reports allege he was charged for assaulting another student, a woman who has since switched to another university, and Marin is expected to return to Russia by the end of the month.
