B.C. Green party announces candidate for Kelowna-Lake Country

KELOWNA – Dr. Alison Shaw will carry the flag for the B.C. Green Party for Kelowna-Lake country in the upcoming provincial election.

“I have never considered politics until now,” Shaw says a media release from the B.C. Green party. “I feel compelled to bring the qualities I believe are lacking in our political environment: a passion to protect what we value in B.C. and the integrity to listen to people in order to create the future we want. I want to support a government that emphasizes evidence and people over politics.

Shaw has a long career as an academic and in 2013 started testing the waters of entrepreneurship. She owns FlipSide Sustainability, a company which, according to the website, has "high-impact business outcomes and a low-impact footprint."

A highlight of Shaw's career includes her research of how scientists and policymakers influence one another in the United Nations Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC).

Shaw will be up against incumbent B.C. Liberal Agriculture Minister Norm Letnick.
