Saskatchewan’s two major parties criticize each other during final run to vote

REGINA – Saskatchewan’s two major political parties continue to take shots at each other as the campaign for Monday’s election hits its final week, with advance voting beginning today.

In Regina, NDP Leader Cam Broten accused the Saskatchewan Party of hiding cuts by not releasing a budget before the election was called.

A financial update released just days before the campaign started showed that the government is running a $427 million deficit this fiscal year and will be in the hole next year, too.

Meanwhile, the Saskatchewan Party put out a news release saying there’s no cost attached to 18 promises in the NDP’s election platform.

The Saskatchewan Party called the plan reckless and said it would lead to ballooning deficits.

However, the NDP has repeatedly said the platform is fully costed.
