Two charged in BMO robberies
KELOWNA – Two men have been charged following an investigation into two separate bank robbies at Bank of Montreal locations earlier this summer.
The second robbery happened Aug. 8 just before 10 a.m. at the BMO located at 1141 Harvey Ave. The alleged robber handed the teller a note saying he had a weapon and asking for a large amount of money. He fled with the cash toward the Capri Centre Mall. Sean Cavanagh was arrested a short time later on Burtch Road near Springfield and has since been charged with robbery.
Further investigation revealed the identity of a second suspect police linked to a previous robbery that happened July 19 at the BMO at 3155 Lakeshore Rd. Joshua Friesen, 19, was arrested Aug. 17 and later charged in relation to both on two counts of robbery.
Friesen and Cavanagh remain in custody to appear in court later this month.
