Democrat files subpoena for Kentucky House Speaker

FRANKFORT, Ky. – A Democrat whose one-vote victory for a Kentucky House seat is being challenged by his Republican rival has filed a subpoena for the incoming GOP House speaker.

The Kentucky State Board of Elections certified Democrat Jim Glenn’s victory over Republican DJ Johnson in House District 13. But Johnson has asked the Republican-controlled House of Representatives to conduct a recount.

Glenn’s attorney Anna Whites filed a subpoena Friday with the House Clerk, seeking to depose incoming Speaker David Osborne on Dec. 19. She wants to ask Osborne if he knew of Johnson’s election challenge in advance and if taxpayers are paying for it, among other questions.

Osborne says he hasn’t been served with a subpoena. He says he does not think the subpoena is valid.
