Missing snowboarder found safe at Sun Peaks

KAMLOOPS – Yesterday evening police and search crews were called to Sun Peaks Resort to find a missing 19-year-old snowboarder.

The man was located late in the evening, safe and uninjured, but hungry.

TK'emlups Rural RCMP and Search and Rescue crews were deployed at 5:36 p.m. yesterday, March 4, Cpl Mike Mucha says in a release.

Crews learned a 19-year-old man from Sherwood Park Alberta was separated from his friend. His lift ticket was last scanned at 10:55 a.m. at the Sunburst chair lift.

At first, crews prepared for an injured on the hill or out of bounds search, but at 9:07 p.m., he was found at the bottom of the Elevation chair lift by resort staff.
