HIT AND RUN: RCMP to update public on fatal crash that claimed life of Kamloops teen

KAMLOOPS – Police haven't said much about the hit and run that took the life of 16-year-old Jennifer Gatey, but they are ready to make an official announcement this Monday.

Supt. Brad Mueller will make the announcement at a press conference at the Battle Street detachment tomorrow at 11:30 a.m, according to an RCMP release.

On the evening of Nov. 4, 2016, Gatey was waiting for a bus near her Aberdeen home when she was struck and killed by a vehicle. The vehicle did not remain on the scene and the investigation has been ongoing ever since.

Other than the seizure of a dark-coloured Jeep shortly after the fatal crash, police haven't released any information regarding the investigation.

More than $5,000 has been raised to construct a memorial bench at the bus stop where Gatey was struck.
