Ball boy gets screen time in Blue Jays-Royals game

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – A ball boy fielding foul balls down the first-base line in Kansas City on Friday night must have decided he wasn’t getting enough work — much to the Blue Jays’ chagrin.

On a fly ball his direction, the youngster hopped off his folding chair and settled under it, even though Blue Jays right fielder Rajai Davis was giving chase.

Davis zoomed just past the startled boy as the ball fell harmlessly in foul territory.

The ball boy was shown on TV sheepishly returning to his seat while the Blue Jays argued fruitlessly with the umpires over the interference.

It’s not uncommon for a ball boy or girl to miss an umpire ruling a grounder or line drive fair and attempt to field it, but it’s rare for one to chase a pop fly in foul territory.
