Neighbourhood small grants program returns to the South Okanagan-Similkameen

Community Foundation South Okanagan Similkameen is proud to announce the return of its Neighbourhood Small Grants program to the South Okanagan Similkameen.

Neighbourhood Small Grants help connect and engage residents in their community by encouraging them to come up with their own ideas for how their neighbourhood can be strengthened. Small grants of up to $500 are available for projects by local residents living in the communities throughout South Okanagan Similkameen.

The grants are administered through our program partner organizations and resident advisory committee members — all local community volunteers.

“We take great pride in helping create a sense of community,” says Executive Director Aaron McRann. “When people feel a sense of connection and belonging to their neighbourhood, they are more likely to be engaged in activities that make it a better place to live."

How it works
Grants are given to projects that connect and engage residents, share skills and knowledge within the community, build a sense of ownership and pride, and respect and celebrate diversity. Block parties, art shows, craft workshops, yoga at sunrise, there’s no limit to creativity!

A simple online application is all you need to do. Resident advisory committees make all final grant decisions, leaving community building in the hands of the people that know best – your community.

Neighbourhood Small Grants deadline for applications is Friday, April 28, 2017.

The Neighbourhood Small Grants program was created by the Vancouver Foundation in 1999. Neighbourhood Small Grants help connect and engage residents in their community regions through co-funding partnerships with Vancouver Foundation and the City of Penticton.
