B.C. Green Party still seeking candidate for Boundary-Similkameen

PENTICTON – As political parties begin squaring away slates of candidates for the May 9 provincial election, there is one party in the Boundary-Similkameen riding that still doesn’t have one.

B.C. Green Party organizer Dave Cursons said in a statement issued today, March 13, the party has nominees provincewide, but no one running in the Boundary Similkameen yet.

Cursons said nomination meetings were held this past weekend in Princeton, Grand Forks and Osoyoos but no prospective candidate came forward.

With all candidate forums already scheduled to begin April 11, he would like to see a Green Party candidate taking part.

“Whoever we select has to pass muster with party leader Andrew Weaver, and we haven’t found that person yet,” Cursons said. “I’m holding out hope. We’ve been able to find candidates in the past."

John Kwasnica ran under the Green Party banner in the riding during the last provincial election and Bob Grieves was the candidate prior to that.

April 18 is the deadline for candidates to file for the May 9 B.C. election.
