Police emphasizing night time efforts to catch thieves

PENTICTON – Penticton RCMP are ramping up their night patrols in an effort to catch those responsible for a recent rash of break and enters.

“Our members are out hard in the evenings now, trying to stem the recent rash of break ins,” Cpl. Ted Manchulenko says, adding police are checking as many people out and about in the evening as they can.

“Hopefully, we can try and catch some of the people that are responsible for some of the thefts lately."

Manchulenko says a McGraw Street residence was broken into March 7 after suspects pried open a rear door between 7 a.m. and 11 a.m. The house was ransacked and a 48 inch Samsung television was taken. The RCMP identification team is investigating.

On March 10, police spent several hours investigating a series of vehicles that were rummaged through in the early morning hours following the previous evening’s snowfall.

Manchulanko says several unlocked vehicles were entered and numerous items taken. The investigation includes analysis of some video.
