Store clerk injured after vehicle crashes into North Kamloops 7-Eleven

KAMLOOPS – A rude awakening for a pickup driver this morning after he mistakenly crashed into the 7-Eleven convenience store on Tranquille Road.

Kamloops RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Jodi Shelkie says officers were called to the scene around 5:30 a.m. this morning, March 17, to find that a pickup had driven into the store, causing major damage.

The 35-year-old driver was the only person inside the vehicle. He had previously been in the store purchasing items but when he got back into his vehicle, it appears he mistakenly put the truck into drive instead of reverse, Shelkie says.

"An employee inside of the store was injured either by the truck or the debris striking her," Shelkie says. "She was transported to Royal Inland Hospital with unknown injuries."

Alcohol and drugs are not believed to be the cause of the accident. The driver was issued a violation ticket for driving without due care and attention.
