Kamloops Search and Rescue locates lost man near Monte Creek

KAMLOOPS – An overnight search near Monte Creek has come to an end after several resources were used to safely locate a lost walker.

Kamloops Search and Rescue search manager Alan Hobler says a 58-year-old Ontario man was in good condition when they located him around 8 a.m. this morning, March 17.

Hobler says the man went for a walk on his son's property last night when he ended up in a wooded area. Seach and Rescue was called out around 12:30 a.m..

Several resources were used to locate the man including drones, ATVs, several ground members and mutual aid teams.

"We had 12 of our members plus mutual aid teams come in from Merritt, Salmon Arm, Vernon and Logan Lake," Hobler says.

Search and Rescue also brought their K9 team out to help locate the man. Hobler says when they found the man this morning, he was a little cold and tired.

Hobler also has advice for anyone even going for a short walk in an area they're unfamiliar with.

"Go with somebody that knows the area and be prepared, even if you think you’re going out for a little walk."
