Police appeal for tips after two Vernon businesses robbed

VERNON – The Vernon Subway and Dollar Tree were the targets of a pair of robberies last week.

Police say a man entered to the Dollar Tree on 43 Avenue on Thursday, March 16 around 9 p.m., and demanded money. He made off with an undisclosed amount of cash before fleeing westbound on 43 Avenue, Const. Jocelyn Noseworthy says in a media release.

“RCMP were in the area searching for the male within minutes but were unable to locate him,” Noseworthy says in the release.

No one was hurt. The man is described as having a shirt pulled over his face, wearing a black jacket and carrying a backpack.

The next day, on Friday, March 17 at around 9:45 p.m., Subway was also robbed. The man reportedly demanded money, then grabbed an undisclosed amount of cash, placed it in a bag and fled the store on foot, heading north on 27 Street. No staff were injured.

Again, police responded immediately, but were unable to locate the suspect.

The man is described as Caucasian, about 5’9” to 5’10” tall, and wearing a black winter jacket and gloves. He had a black duffle bag.
