LOS ANGELES, Calif. – Grammy and Juno award winner the Weeknd could once again be adding to his trophy haul at the Billboard Music Awards.

The Toronto hitmaker is leading the nominees at this year’s ceremony with 16 nods.

Fellow Canadian pop sensation Justin Bieber is following behind the “Can’t Feel My Face” singer with 11 nominations, while homegrown hip-hop star Drake is up for 10 awards.

The Canadian trio will compete against Adele and Taylor Swift for the top artist award.

The Weeknd, Drake and Bieber will also square off against each other in several other categories, including top male artist, top Hot 100 artist, top Billboard 200 artist and top song sales artist.

Canadian newcomer Alessia Cara also earned a nod for “Here” in the top R&B song category.

Billboard Music Awards hosts Ludacris and Ciara announced some of the nominees Monday on ABC’s “Good Morning America.”

The show will air live on ABC from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas on May 22.
