New lovers Arthur Darvill and Joanna Christie announced for Broadway’s ‘Once’ – again

NEW YORK, N.Y. – There will be two new star-crossed lovers at “Once” on Broadway — again.

A little more than a month after announcing the replacements for Tony Award-winner Steve Kazee and Tony-nominated Cristin Milioti, producers on Monday named two other actors for the roles.

Arthur Darvill and Joanna Christie, both British, will make their Broadway debuts on Tuesday as the musicals’ permanent leads, taking over from Ben Hope and Laura Dreyfuss, who were understudies. The new actors were names as soon as they got visa permission to work in America.

Darvill played Rory Williams on the BBC’s “Doctor Who” and has been onstage in London in “Our Boys” and “Swimming with Sharks.” Christie played opposite Daniel Radcliff in “Equus.”
